Interview with Oleksandr Geraskov, CEO of Bauer’s Synthes. In search of perfection. Innovation and global plans.
Today we have a unique opportunity to talk with one of the first Ukrainian companies specializing in the production of implants for traumatology and osteosynthesis – the CEO of Bauer’s Synthes, Oleksandr Geraskov. The company was founded in 2019. Bauer’s Synthes immediately announced itself and took the status of the first company in Ukraine that has its own production of implants for osteosynthes and material for bone regeneration. In this interview, we learn more about the company’s philosophy, its development strategy and its contribution to modern medicine.
What are Bauer’s Synthes’ current goals?
Oleksandr: We have always strived to make people’s lives easier and better. Our goal has not changed for now. We strive to provide traumatologists with a wide range of high-quality implants of European quality at affordable prices in the shortest possible time.
What products are currently manufactured by Bauer’s Synthes and what technological innovations are currently at the forefront of development?
Oleksandr: Currently, our assortment has become wider than at the very beginning.Our company’s portfolio includes the following range of products:
1. “Bauer’s Synthes” implant system for osteosynthesis and prosthesis:
• Plates and screws
• Intramedullary rods
• External fixation device
• Surgical and pediatric sets
• Electric tool
• Surgical suture material (absorbable/non-absorbable)
• Bone implantation material of natural origin2.
2. “BEA MED” medical clothing:
• Sterile gowns
• Surgical gowns, gowns for the visitor, protective coveralls
• Sterile sets for childbirth, caesarean section, laparoscopy, etc.
Our engineers and scientists are currently working on some new projects. We invest a lot of resources in robotics solutions. After all, nothing stands still. In the near future, by the way, we plan to present a number of innovative products that will simplify the work of traumatologists and make rehabilitation and patients’ lives easier and better. We also launched the production of intramedullary bone fixators with precise navigation. In the future, we plan to expand the range of products and launch the production of implants for endoprosthesis, as this niche is currently in high demand. Compared to Europe, there are not so many joint replacement operations in Ukraine.
Oleksandr, how do you see the competitive environment in the field of manufacturing implants for traumatology and osteosynthesis, and what is the position of Bauer’s Synthes in the market? What difficulties do you face?
Oleksandr: We have a unique position on the market because Bauer’s Synthes is the first and so far the only Ukrainian manufacturer of implants for traumatology. Our huge advantage is that we provide European quality products with maximum availability. This allows our clients, doctors and patients, to avoid long and complicated import procedures and provides faster and more effective treatment.As for the difficulties, of course there are, and they are primarily related to the fact that we are competing with Indian and Chinese brands, which do not have stable quality.
Oleksandr, I also wonder what exactly you offer to doctors? Why do they choose you?
Oleksandr: Well, first of all, we provide a lifetime guarantee for our products. We also offer a full range of products with the possibility of quick replacement of the desired implant for each specific operation, we provide surgical sets for operations absolutely free of charge.A big plus is that our company is located on the territory of Ukraine, we always have the entire range of products in stock, so everything you need can get to the operating room in the shortest possible time. We buy and use only titanium from a German manufacturer. For surface treatment, we use the products of the Swiss market leader in the production of special solutions.
